In the times of the East Indian companies, the region of Puglia was considered the “cellar of Europe”, where many civilizations came and got their wines (such as the Romans, Byzantines, Longobards, Normans, Swedish, the Angioini, French and Italians). At least according to Luigi Veronelli.
But what about today? With such a notorious past, now Puglia distinguishes itself for its great production of wine, for it’s classics like Locorotondo, Matino, Copertino, Primitivo di Manduria and Squinzano, and for the new and exquisite wines from the Daunia (FG) area, Terra di Bari, Murge (BA) and Salento (LE).
