Fascinating myths and legends of heroes and ancient founders intertwine with the beauty of the park’s territory. It’s the second Italian national park for size. It includes various geographical conformations, a part of the Tyrrhenian coast (where Palinuro leaves Enea) and many peaks, including the Alburni mountains, which seem all white because of the great presence of Cretaceous limestone. The wild areas of the park have many rare species such as the black woodpecker, royal eagle, badger, sea crow and sparrow hawk.
