Park in Friuli Venezia Giulia - Udine -

Udine -

Regional Natural park of the Friulan Dolomites UD.

Regional Natural park of the Friulan Dolomites UD.
The park is made up of 37,000 hectares and is characterized by the incredible wildlife it has, which has been safeguarded since the park’s creation (in 1996). The territory of the park comprises the Varcellina area, Valle del Tagliamento and Val Tramontina, where there are various summits that stand out for their altitude. There are also two other elements that define this park: the first is the rich and beautiful animal and plant life, considered among the best Alpine flora and fauna of Italy, as well as dinosaur footprints (near Caserta Casavento) that you can visit and get very good information about; the second is the landslide of mount Tog which in 1963 caused the Vajont disaster, killing over 2000 people. The landslide is still visible and the area has plenty of detailed information on the tragic event.
