Along the western mid-coastal region, located in a small valley among the green Pisan hills and from where you can see the Tyrrhenian Sea on the horizon, you can find RESIDENCE BORGO SAN CARLO. It is a true oasis of tranquillity and an ideal place for those seeking relaxation in typically Tuscan surroundings. The structure is set in the in the lovely Tuscan countryside just a short distance from attractive beaches such as those at: Vada, Cecina, Castigliocello, Scogliera del Romito (LI), and Riva degli Etruschi, as well as many others.
From the Residence you can easily visit numerous cultural sites such as the famous Etruscan settlement at Populonia, the Bolgheri cypress road, Castagneto Carducci (home of the famous Italian poet) and artistic towns like Florence, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Certaldo. You can take suggestive walks among typical maquis vegetation, woods and streams starting from the Residence, and you can find still wild areas where wild boar, foxes, deer, squirrels and, occasionally, raptors such as the “poiana” buzzard can be seen. The Residence structure is located on the periphery of the municipality of Pomaia and was built on the site of an old factory where alabaster was worked near important quarries that offer, today, an interesting museum and excursion. We are set among the local, green vegetation and only a few kilometres from the important LAMA TZONG KHAPA Buddhist monastery, which is visited by illustrious tourists from all over the world. Today the numerous alabaster quarries in the area are closed, but a few workshops for the production of secondary alabaster products remain. In the valley of the Marmolaio stream there is still the only “flake” quarry, one of the best qualities of alabaster: soon this gallery will be brought up to regulation and will be a site for informative visits about the processes of extraction.
RESIDENCE BORGO SAN CARLO offers relaxing holidays with emphasis on well-being and total immersion in nature, without forgetting amusement, the sea and the rich culture of Tuscany. The entire structure has been constructed with respect for the surrounding environment, using natural materials and with careful attention to comfort. Our apartments are spacious and have many windows to help capture the natural light, and there are plenty of outdoor spaces available. For our guests, we offer a barbecue area, gardens, children’s play area, and two lovely swimming pools (one for adults and one for children), both surrounded by greenery and terraces with solarium.
