“La vecchia Camera” holiday farm is located among rolling hills in the Crete Senesi zone in the Parco Naturale-Artistico della Val d’Orcia, midway between San Giovanni d’Asso, Montalcino and San Quirico d’Orcia. Within a short distance, it is possible to find a concentration of small artistic towns (Pienza, Montepulciano, Monticchiello, Rocca d’Orcia, etc.) as well as spas (Chianciano, Rapolano, Bagno Vignoni and Bagni di San Filippo), making this part of the Val d’Orcia a gem of art and culture.

The recently remodelled farm complex sits on a hill overlooking the countryside. From the large terrace there is a view of Monte Amiata where in summer you can take lovely walks in the verdant vegetation and in winter it is possible to ski.
Dating back to the end of the 15th century, riders and others travelling by carriage used it as a place to rest: on the ground floor there were stables for the animals; on the upper floor there were rooms to rest in and for eating. From this, it gets its name: “Camera” or Room.

With the passage of time and a reduction in the number of travellers on the road (which crossed the Val d’Orcia and led to the Val d’Arbia), its use changed and it became a typical Tuscan farm where the entire family (which was often very numerous) shared in the farm work.
The family-run farm has once again returned to its original purpose as a place of hospitality.

At our farm we tempt our guests with daily menus that change depending on the season and that adhere to the simple traditions of the Tuscan kitchen. Pasta and desserts are homemade and many dishes are cooked in wood-burning ovens.
