 Petroia Castle is a conglomerate of medieval buildings closed within Castle di Petroia walls.
The origin dates back the XII° century. Since it is situated on a strategic location between Gubbio and Perugia, overlooking the Chiascio valley, Petroia Castle was the scene of many important events of the XIII°, XIV° centuries.
The restoration of the entire complex, between 1982 and 1990, aimed at the recuperation of all its parts, almost as if one can read on these walls the history and modification done to the Castle, like if it were written in a guide.
Within the Castello id Petroia walls there are 3 buidings: Castellare Maggiore, Castellare Minore and Mastio.
The rooms, 4 superior, 5 Suite or Junior Suite, and some halls are located in the Castellare Maggiore and Castellare Minore. The room tower is in the Mastio.
This his hilltop location sists on tree-lined summit overlooking the Chiascio valley, which provides the kind of picturesque landscape belowed by Perugino and Piero della Francesca.
Surrounding the Castle there is the Petroia farm, whit park, pastures, acres of pristine forest with marked ares; and where you'll spot hards of pure thoroughbred Chianina cattle in the pasture open range.
